On the day of the UN Refugee Summit in New York, Snappin’ Turtle Productions worked with five leading charities – UNCHR, International Rescue Committee, World Vision, Medicine Sans Frontier and Migrant Voice – to disrupt the global news agenda by transforming Parliament Square into a ‘lifejacket graveyard’.
We sourced 2500 authentic lifejackets worn by refugees and trucked them across Europe to London.
At 4.30am on the morning of 19th September, a group of volunteers began displaying the lifejackets in what became a striking viral image.
Our mission was accomplished – the human story set the news agenda rather than the politics.

“The display at Parliament Square focused the world’s attention on the fact that when talking about the refugee crisis, we are talking about individual human lives.”
