UK’S LARGEST COMMEMORATION EVENT FOR 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY

D-DAY 70 YEARS ON

SYNOPSIS

BBC Radio 2, TBI Media and Snappin’ Turtle produced the UK’s largest commemoration event for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

This cross-platform event hosted an orchestra of 150 musicians performing at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Sir Patrick Stewart, Dermot O’Leary, Jeremy Vine and performers Katherine Jenkins, Beverly Knight and D-Day veteran Jim Radford.

The sell-out production was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2, BBC Red Button, BBC iPlayer, around the world via BFBS Radio and streamed to over 200 cinemas across the UK – where it reached number 4 in the UK Box Office.

To commemorate the D-Day anniversary across the day on BBC Radio 2, we also coordinated special programmes for Chris Evans and Jeremy Vine.  Chris broadcast live from a landing craft in Normandy and Jeremy presented his show from HMS Belfast.
